We snuck Jason away for a surprise 40th birthday weekend in the Smoky Mountains. Luke did an awesome job keeping it a surprise and he’s known for about a month! Luke told everyone else about it though— everywhere we went! “We’re going to the snow mountains at Gatlin-buuurg” he’d say.
We had a great cabin and an awesome view of mountains and Pigeon Forge far away in the distance. My kiddos especially loved the game room. They learned how to play pool!
When took off driving and exploring the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, yesterday. We spent the day exploring Cades Cove, hiking to old Cabins, learning about life during the civil war era, exploring old churches, cemeteries, and mills. We had a picnic lunch. We saw a bunch of deer and turkeys. We drove some more and found a spot to hike up a mountain to see an awesome waterfall! Totally worth the 743 feet we hiked up in elevation... Finished up the evening with a trip into Pigeon Forge to swing by the Old Mill Creamery for some ice cream!
It was a fantastic, family weekend getaway to celebrate a fantastic husband and father!
Jason is selfless, thoughtful, caring, hardworking, loves the Lord, his family, and his country, and does so much for others... he really is the best!! Happy 40th, my love. ❤️ P.S. I strongly recommend adventures and memories over gifts/material possessions. Get out there and see all the breathtaking wonders God has created, in this great big awesome world... (it makes you think— how beautiful Heaven must be!) 😘
