A lot of my posts discuss the importance of thoughts and perspectives. Today, I want to emphasize the role of the ENVIRONMENT or physical space in our mental health. A calming space can make a big difference!
What makes a space calming is different for everyone. Here are some things that make me feel calm, mindful, & grounded:
• little to no clutter
• warm colors
• couches, pillows, blankets
• chill music
• natural light
• little or no distraction
Spending time in a quiet and calming space, even for just a few minutes every day, can help you stay mentally healthy or improve your mental health. It’s a great time to:
✨practice mindfulness✨do some deep breathing✨disengage from phones and work obligations✨think about what we’re grateful for✨let negative thoughts float away.
Try spending 5-10 mins in a calming space, every day, & see what happens!
