“It is not only beautiful in design; there are many spiritual benefits associated with the pious use of the medal. Because St. Benedict is the patron saint against many forms of diabolical influence—including witchcraft, poison, disease, and temptation—his medal has the power to protect those who use it faithfully from various evils and temptations. It is also used for obtaining the conversion of sinners, help for women during childbirth, the strengthening of faith, perseverance in the virtue of purity, protection during storms, the curing of diseases, and the grace of a happy death. Each of the letters engraved on the front and back of the medal stand for Latin prayers of exorcism. “ - catholiccompany.com
Today’s saint :Saint Cecilia
Also known as:
Cultivated young patrician woman whose ancestors loomed large in Rome's history. She vowed her virginity to God, but her parents married her to Valerian of Trastevere. Cecilia told her new husband that she was accompanied by an angel, but in order to see it, he must be purified. He agreed to the purification, and was baptised; returning from the ceremony, he found her in prayer accompanied by a praying angel. The angel placed a crown on each of their heads, and offered Valerian a favor; the new convert asked that his brother be baptised.
The two brothers developed a ministry of giving proper burial to martyred Christians. In their turn they were arrested and martyred for their faith. Cecilia buried them at her villa on the Apprian Way, and was arrested for the action. She was ordered to sacrifice to false gods; when she refused, she was martyred in her turn.
The Acta of Cecilia includes the following: "While the profane music of her wedding was heard, Cecilia was singing in her heart a hymn of love for Jesus, her true spouse." It was this phrase that led to her association with music, singers, musicians, etc.

Today is Thanksgiving Day. Let us reflect, do I see all God has done for me and all His abundance mercy alive in my life? In the Gospel passage where Jesus healed ten lepers, only one of the ten returned in gratitude. Are you like one of the nine who failed in gratitude? Or are you the one who returned in gratitude? At times, we are likely to struggle with seeing all the truth and abundant blessings from God. But if we humbly admit that we are struggling with total gratitude, then this is the first step in fostering gratitude deeply. Being grateful means you see the truth clearly and it will change your life as the truth will set you free.

Verse: Matthew 16:26
What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?
Today's verse remind all of us to look at ourselves and reflect. What is the important thing for us? Is it money? Position? Jesus reminds us that there is no use if someone get all the things, but lose his soul. Sometimes we tried so hard to get something, and in the end, we just realize that to get 1 thing, we lost a lot of things. Sometimes it is too late to come back and we need to live with it. We need to be wise and ask for God direction for everything that we do. Let Him guide all of our ways and dreams.
Father, lead me in my way, so I can be always live according to Your way. In Jesus name, Amen.

Statue of St. Cecilia at ⛪ St. Cecilia’s Church (Brooklyn, NY, 🇺🇸 USA).
St. Cecilia's is a Roman Catholic parish church in the Diocese of Brooklyn located at North Henry and Herbert streets, Greenpoint, Brooklyn, New York. It is named for Saint Cecilia, the patron saint of music.
The founding of the parish of St. Cecilia in 1871 was made to the Diocese of Brooklyn at the request of several families in the neighborhood of the present church—many of them were Irish immigrants who settled in Greenpoint.
The current church in the Romanesque Basilica style was constructed in 1891 based on plans supplied by architect Thomas Henry Poole hired by the then pastor, Rev. Edward J. McGoldrick. The corner stone was laid by Bishop Charles Loughlin on September 27th, 1891. It was dedicated in 1893 by Bishop MeDonnell, and the first Mass celebrated within its walls was sung by Most Rev. Francesco Satolli, Apostolie Delegate to the United States. The church seats over 800 people.
The white marble blocks used in construction of the main church and on the rectory are of Georgian Marble and it is believed that they were originally intended for St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Manhattan. As the color was not quite the right match—the material sat in a warehouse for many decades before Father McGoldrick obtained it for the construction. The main altar which is behind the present day Post Vatican II altar is constructed of Caen marble being extremely rare and expensive material that was considered highly experimental at the time of construction. The edifice is also notable for the illuminated bell tower with copper roof.
It is a contributing building in the Greenpoint Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.
