What has happened in 10 weeks? The first week of the @transformyouchallenge I got badly injured by slipping/falling off the rig when trying new grips. But-I only missed two days of training because of it. I do CrossFit 2x a day and did my best to add the @ashley.horner running plan a minimum of 3 days a week as well as the Crux core program when I could (often my tailbone could not handle the exercises, however my coach and I got really creative and came up with some amazing modifications). And although the running program had to be modified for the pool (with a pull bouy), I still did it. And, once I could run again, I ended up PR’ing my mile time when we tested it on the track. I weighed and measured food that my husband and I prepped following my nutritionist’s plan, which was modified to 1400kcals a day when I was injured (so hard to stick to) and then increased to 1550 once I could start to do harder cardio again (run, jump, hinge without pain). I figured out how to make a peppermint mocha at home for low low calories! I also figured out how to balance my goals in this challenge with my new blended family’s holiday traditions. I celebrated the holidays with my family; I drank wine with my sister and mother in law, had a cider at the adults-gift-to-each-other NBA game we attended and I ate the cookies my teenager carefully baked and decorated at Christmas/ I never beat myself up for the extra food because it was part of spending priceless time with family and never to ridiculous excess. I laughed. I cried. I really focused on getting good sleep and did yoga twice a week to stay flexy and happy. I loved the hell out of my family and I learned so much about how to just keep going, despite obstacles, despite my broken butt and with a hectic family schedule. Thank you again to @ashley.horner for your examples and inspiration and great programs. Huge gratitude to the other #Ashletes in the challenge. Your motivation, inspiration and energy was amazing!! Special recognition to my darling husband @mike.cook.1966 for healthy living as a couple and to my friends and family who cheer me on and help me crush goals and are my reason for working harder every day!
